UFC Belfast: Gegard Mousasi exacts revenge over Uriah Hall with first-round finish

GEGARD Mousasi produced a dominant display to stop Uriah Hall and put himself firmly on the road towards a title shot.

Mousasi was stopped by TKO by Hall at UFC Fight Night in Saitama, Japan last year.

And the Dutchman was in the mood for revenge on Saturday night when the pair met in a middleweight rematch in Belfast.

Hall initially started well, landing a few solid kicks from range before Mousasi opted to step in and close the distance.

And when the Dutchman got his hands on Hall and dragged him to the mat, ‘Primetime’ never had the chance to get back to his feet.

And once the fight went to the floor, it was all Mousasi as the Dutchman rained down a salvo of punishing shots to his grounded opponent until referee Marc Goddard stepped in to end the contest.

“He won fair and square (in the first bout),” explained Mousasi after the bout.
“I have to give respect to Uriah for giving the rematch and taking the fight.”

And now he’s avenged that loss, Mousasi’s focus has turned towards the UFC middleweight title, as he explained.

“I want to face whoever has the belt. I’m coming. I need an elimination fight now – or a title shot – whatever the UFC want.”
