UFC donate £750,000 to families affected by Las Vegas shooting which left at least 59 people dead


UFC have donated £750,000 ($1m) to the families of those affected by the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

At least 59 people have been killed after a gunman opened fire on a music festival crowd in the Nevada desert.

And the mixed martial arts promoters made a donation in the wake of the tragedy.

UFC president Dana White told ESPN: "At the end of the day, this is our city. We love this place.

"The first thing when we got up this morning, everybody, personally, got it together and made sure anybody they know or love was OK.

"Then we came in here and made sure all of our employees are OK.

"Then you start thinking about this city, our hometown, and we felt we needed to do this. This is something we needed to do."

UFC offices are based in Las Vegas, and White said the company took a full count of employees on Monday.

The upcoming UFC 216 event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas this Saturday will be dedicated to the city, White announced.

Sunday's shocking attack say at least 59 killed and 527 injured on the famed Las Vegas Strip.

Three English cricketers have confirmed they are safe in Las Vegas.

Stuart Meaker, Tom Curran and Jade Dernbach were all in the city as the horror events unfolded on Sunday night.

British tennis star Laura Robson was caught up in the massacre and shared photos on social media from the scene just moments before a gunman opened fire.
