UFC legend Georges St-Pierre’s comeback still uncertain as Dana White rules superstar out of UFC 206

UFC superstar Georges St-Pierre will NOT be fighting at UFC 206, according to UFC president Dana White.

The Canadian former UFC welterweight champion, who walked away from the sport as champion back in November 2013, has been strongly linked with a return to the Octagon.

And many hoped and believed that the December 10 event in Toronto would be the perfect time for ‘Rush’ to make his return.

But this past week White moved to quash those rumours, officially ruling out a GSP return in Toronto.

“GSP’s not fighting in Toronto,” he explained on FOX Sports Live, saying he’s unsure whether the Canadian will ever fight again.

“I don’t think he does (come back)”.

St-Pierre, who was pictured on the beach in Miami with his boxing gloves in tow, has spoken of his desire to get back into the Octagon.

The Canadian star also spoke of a test weight cut and training camp to see if he still had what it takes to go through the punishing regimen required to make it back to world championship-level fighting fitness.

But White says he’s not sure the Canadian still has the fire in his belly any more.

“There’s a certain mentality you have to have to be a fighter, and Georges St-Pierre hasn’t had that mentality for a long time. And sometimes that’s not a bad thing,” he explained.

“Listen, the guy went out on top. How many athletes really go out on top – go out the way you want to go out?

“The guy made a lot of money and when you take…  this isn’t a sport you take a three-year layoff from.

“GSP said, ‘I’m going to do a little mini-camp’ and this and that. He’s been saying that for three years,” White continued.

“A lot of talk. GSP wasn’t loving fighting when he was fighting all the time. First of all it’s a young man’s game.

“You’ve got to jump out of bed every day and want to kick people’s ass and want to be a world champion.

“GSP hasn’t had that fire in a very long time.”
