UFC heavyweight Alexey Oleynik has told of his horror watching daughter Polina run from the 17-person massacre at her Florida school on Wednesday.
The giant MMA fighter could not stomach listening to the mass shooting unfold on American television as he feared for his child’s safety.
The 40-year-old Russian hard man felt safe living in an affluent area and sending his daughter to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, near Fort Lauderdale.
But he revealed in an emotional Instagram post that that sense of security has been ripped up by the senseless slayings.
Translated from Russian, Oleynik wrote: “We’ve faced it. A prosperous neighborhood, good school, safety…
“And then you see your child running from the school filmed by the helicopter camera, while watching news about deadly shooting in school.
“I turned the sound off. Don’t want to make further comments.”
Oleynik, his wife and their four children are based in Moscow but travel to the States so he can train at Florida’s American Top Team MMA gym.
The 52-fight veteran – who uploaded a video of his daughter being interviewed by a journalist – has been in the UFC since 2014 and has had six fights for them, the most recent in November.

The fighter’s wife Tatyana also documented the atrocity on social media and captioned a video with the words: “Thank God Polina survived the shootout.
“Yes, this is our school of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High … You cannot pass on words to watch on the news and to look through your child’s eyes among those who have been released and taken out by special forces from school.
“Thank God we saw it!
“And someone – 17 people already killed, 50 injured, three in critical condition, almost all children … Heart is torn.”
