LONDON Marathon chiefs have warned fun runners to be wary of donning fancy dress with temperatures set to be the warmest on record for the event.
A peak of 23C is forecast on Sunday which would beat the previous warmest of 22.2C in 2007.
Organisers sent out emails on Thursday to more than 50,000 runners signed up for the race giving them advice on how to cope with the heat.
They are also providing extra showers, water and ice on the 26.2 mile route.
Race director Hugh Brasher said: “Those running in fancy dress should have a think about whether it is appropriate in the conditions.
“We love fancy dress but is it appropriate in warmer conditions?

“It is vital people listen to their body.
“If you need to slow down, slow down, if you need to douse yourself in water do it.
“Run according to the conditions, drink according to your thirst. It is set to be the warmest on record.”
