Ultra supporters reduce young ballboy to tears as they interrupt game with flares and fireworks


A STARTLED ballboy was reduced to tears when right wing fans let off a series of flares as an impromptu protest.

Half an hour into the Dutch second division showdown between FC Den Bosch and FC Dordrecht the infamous brand of Ultra supporters reared their ugly heads.

The front rows of the stand behind the ballboy literally exploded as the red flares and fireworks lit up that side of the pitch.

The referee immediately blew his whistle to stop play and both teams headed for the dressing rooms.

The poor ballboy gathered himself as the cacophony of sound burst into life around him while the Ultra brigade made their presence felt.

Banners hailing “nothing beats the 80’s and 90’s” were thrust above the advertising hoardings as the players trooped off.

A concerned FC Den Bosch player put his arm around the ballboy and others came to his aid.

The match was restarted and resulted in a 1-0 home win for FC Den Bosch.
