AMERICAN football and soccer fans could soon be armed with GUNS when watching the sport at stadiums in Washington state.
Security guards and stadium operators would no longer be able to stop people with licenses to carry a concealed weapon from entering the ground under the legislation.

The controversial legislation could affect the baseball team Seattle Mariners’ Safeco Field and CenturyLink Field, the home of the National Football League’s (NFL) Seattle Seahawks and Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Seattle Sounders, who just won the league’s cup final.
The NFL told the Washington Post it would oppose the bill.
“We haven’t seen the proposed legislation but we have a policy forbidding carrying a weapon into NFL stadiums,” said Brian McCarthy, vice president of communications.

The gun bid comes as fan violence is a growing concern for the NFL, according to the post.
“If you are concerned about bringing your family to a game, then that is an issue,” said Amy Trask, a former executive with the Raiders who has served on the NFL’s security committee.
“It’s not just an issue for one team; it’s an issue for all 32 teams.”
The bill is likely to face strong opposition in Washington, which borders Canada and has a strong Democratic base.
