US Open 2017: Dustin Johnson celebrates the birth of his baby boy with Paulina Gretzky

DUSTIN Johnson celebrated the birth of his baby boy on Tuesday and immediately headed to Erin Hills to plot the defence of his US Open title.

The World No1 arrived on Tuesday evening, just hours after his partner Paulina Gretzky gave birth to their second child.

ESPN reporter Ian O’Connor tweeted a picture of a newborn on Tuesday saying: “Meet the beautiful baby boy of Paulina Gretzky & Dustin Johnson. Name to come.”

Johnson, 32, was a late arrival at the sprawling Erin Hills course and was seen out practicing on Tuesday, heading for the 10th tee at about 6:30 pm.

The Ryder Cup star had said he would not travel to Erin Hills until the birth of his second .

Johnson will be playing with Jordan Spieth and Martin Kaymer, the two previous US Open winners, starting from the 10th tee in Thursdays opening round.

Johnson won last year’s US Open at Oakmont by three shots to claim his first major championship despite being hit with a controversial one-shot penalty for the accidental movement of his ball on the fifth green during the final round.

Paulina’s bum became the big story however as a cameraman followed her backside up the stairs.

For a time it looked as if Johnson might miss his second consecutive major.

He was forced withdraw from the US Masters in April after injuring his back in fall down the stairs at his rented house in Augusta.

In his last outing, at the Memorial in Ohio two weeks ago, he missed the cut after shooting 78 and 74 in the opening two rounds.

He arrives at Erin Hills with players furious over a decision by organisers to chop back the knee-deep rough.

Johnson started dating Paulina - daughter of ice hockey legend Wayne - in early 2013, and they became engaged later that year.

She gave birth to their some Tatmum in January 2015.
