USAIN BOLT’S hopes of keeping his ‘triple triple’ of gold medals have been boosted.
Former sprint team-mate Nesta Carter has appealed his drugs rap which led Jamaica’s 4x100m quartet being stripped of their gold from the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
But Bolt has been handed a lifeline as it was confirmed that Carter has appealed the decision after a retest of sample from the 2008 Games was found to contain a banned stimulant in January.
Michael Frater and Asafa Powell were also robbed of their place in the history books, with Bolt having confirmed that he has already handed back his medal.
Bolt said: “I’ve handed it back. I gave it to the Jamaican Olympic Association.
"They don't knock on your door! For me I'm satisfied with what I've done with my career.
"I wanted to retire after the Olympics and if it was up to me I would have done but I'm still in good shape and I think the fans wanted to see me compete for another year.
"I'm going to compete in as many races as I can this season."
