Usain Bolt struggles out of the blocks again as he is beaten by rival Christian Coleman but still makes 100m final

USAIN BOLT’S problems with the blocks continued as he was beaten by big rival Christian Coleman in the 100metres semi-final at London 2017.

Bolt claimed the blocks used in this World Championships are the worst ever after his first round run and he was sluggish at the gun again to lose ground to American dangerman Coleman.

The Jamaican struggled to make up his ground before finishing just behind Coleman as both sealed their places in the final later tonight, but the concerns are there that Bolt may struggle unless he improves his start.

Joining Bolt in the final is 21-year-old British champion Reece Prescod who produced a thrilling run in his semi-final to finish second – a hundreth of a second behind former world champion Yohan Blake.

Prescod said: “I’m tired. I am ready for the final – hopefully I can perform well there. I am going to run my heart out.”

It was bad news for British hope James Dasaolu in the first semi-final, as the 2014 European champion could only come home fifth in a time of 10.22secs.

South Africa’s Akani Simbine won that race in 10.05secs, pipping drug cheat Justin Gatlin to the line although the American did make it through to the final.

The third Brit CJ Ujah also saw his challenge come to an end as he was run out of the places in the Bolt semi.
