ENGLAND’S heartbreaking exit from the Under-21 Championship has been ridiculed by Visit England on Twitter.
Aidy Boothroyd’s men were sent crashing out at the semi-final stage after losing 4-3 on penalties to rivals Germany on Tuesday evening.
With everyone left distraught after succumbing to another shootout loss in a major tournament, fans began retweeting a post from five years ago.
After England lost to Italy at Euro 2012, ironically once again on penalties, the Visit England account posted a cheeky upload at the expense of the national team.
They said: “England lose on penalties. For more on our culture and traditions go to visitengland.com ;).”
The comic tweet, now relevant once again, was then doing the rounds on social media once more with fans revelling in the post.

One user commented “Haha love it,” while another simply stated “class.”
Another said: “Great Humour and good luck for next Cup – may you get out without penalties.”
Germany had to battle pack from 2-1 down after Tammy Abraham put the Young Lions in front at the start of the second half, with Felix Platte powering in a header to equalise.
Stefan Kuntz’s men will face Spain in the final on Friday evening, after they cruised to a 3-1 victory against Italy.
