Wales 38 Italy 14: George North double sets up bonus-point win for new-look side in Cardiff

GEORGE NORTH returned to the XV with a bang as his treble earned a bonus-point win for new-look Wales.

Head coach Warren Gatland made 10 changes to the side who lost against Ireland and saw them race into a 14-0 lead.

Hadleigh Parkes opened the scoring after an interception before North raced clear for a quickfire second.

Italy hit back through Matteo Minozzi after a breathtaking opening to the game and the visitors dominated possession in the first half.

But Gatland’s Dragons – aiming for second spot behind champs Ireland – improved after the break.

Cory Hill scored their third try before Parkes was denied a second by the TMO.

Wales, though, secured the bonus-point minutes later as North powered over for the fourth try.

Justin Tipuric crossed inside the last 10 minutes to add gloss to a scoreline that was harsh on Italy, who did manage a late Mattia Bellini score.
