Wales trolls England after early exit from Euro 2016

WALES fans mocked the English as the Three Lions limped pathetically out of the Euros with a defeat to Iceland.

England’s British neighbours are the only UK side still in the tournament after Hodgson’s team suffered a humiliating defeat.

Despite losing to England in the first round the Red Dragons topped the table and are now Britain’s only hope after defeating Northern Ireland on Saturday.

The Welsh have been predictably quick to twist the knife on the English.

During the match Wales players, including Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, were filmed cheering and dancing after Iceland scored what proved to be the winning goal.

BBC Wales tweeted “We’ll just leave this here…” and a banner reading “Quarter Finals” over a Welsh shirt, immediately after Iceland took the lead against England.

Twitter became awash with mocking memes and jokes at England’s expense.

One user wrote: “An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman walk into a pub.
To watch Wales play in the quarter finals of EURO 2016.”

Another said: “Flood warning in Wales as the nation pi***s itself laughing at England #welldonewoy.”

Some English fans even tried to change allegiance.

Twitter user Martin Turner posted: “My cousins are Welsh, therefore I am now Welsh, come on Wales, England you’re out hahahahaha.”

Robbie Savage was quick to slate England's 'stars'

Wales fans were quick to point out that Englanders were digging deep into their family tree to find Welsh roots.

Pundit Robbie Savage also heaped on the misery with a glib overview of England’s lacklustre performances.

He said: “Yes England beat Wales but that was the worst I have seen us play, we panicked and tonight we have shown what we can do.

"I don't want any excuses off England fans, you can't even beat Slovakia, you can't even beat Russia, you've finished second in the group!”

Wales next play Belgium in the quarter finals on Friday.
