Watch the touching moment Ireland captain Seamus Coleman gives young Everton fan a Christmas to remember

BIG-HEARTED Ireland captain Seamus Coleman gave a young fan a Christmas to remember when he surprised him by showing up in his living room this week.

11-year-old Everton-mad Will McKenzie has had a hard year, and this will be the first Christmas after the death of his dad Steve who was his “best friend”.

Will lost his dad Steve in April

Steve passed away in April at the age of 52.

The pair went to Everton games together so Will’s mates decided to nominate him for a ‘Blue Crimbo Secret Santa Surprise’.

John, a family friend, said: “As soon as we saw the competition we all agreed, little Will was the one.

“He so much deserves it, he’s just been amazing hasn’t he?”

And the nomination paid off, because Will’s hero Coleman was waiting in the living room when he got home from school this week.

The Donegal man came bearing gifts – tickets to Everton vs Leicester, and a treasure trove of presents to flood the Christmas tree with.

“Life isn’t always easy for people and unfortunately it has been tough for Will and his family recently losing their father,” said Coleman in the video posted by Everton football club’s official Twitter page.

“I have met Will’s mother and she seems like a really strong woman and I think with her around Will will be OK because he has got someone he can always look up to.”

The main man himself, Will, had this to say: “I just couldn’t believe it when I walked in and Seamus Coleman was just sat on my sofa, it was just amazing.

“I love Everton so much, I go to all the games and I usually get there really early so I can be ball boy but to have a Premier League footballer in my house was something I never thought would happen to me. I still can’t believe it!”

Coleman has been hitting all the right notes lately after a fantastic block against Merseyside rivals Liverpool.
