THE world-famous Hong Kong Sevens 2017 rugby tournament has started and Fiji will be looking to retain the cup again this year.

Rugby sevens’ most famous tournament takes place every year towards the end of March or at the beginning of April.

The competition is part of the World Rugby Sevens Series, which consists of 10 tournaments in 10 different countries and 28 national teams take part – here’s what else you need to know.

When does the Hong Kong Sevens 2017 start?

The tournament kicked off on Friday, April 7 and teams will be battling it out for the cup at the Hong Kong Stadium in Hong Kong.

What TV channel is the tournament on?

You can watch the matches live on Sky Sports 2, 3 and 5.

Coverage of the tournament began at 4.50am on Friday, April 7 on Sky Sports 3.

Tomorrow’s coverage will begin at 1.50am on Sky Sports 5, with coverage on Sunday starting at 2.20am on Sky Sports 2 and then continuing at 10am on Sky Sports 5.

Who is taking part?

There are 28 national teams taking part in this year’s Hong Kong Sevens and they’ve been divided up into seven pools.

Each pool is made up four teams competing for the cup, England are in pool A with Australia, Samoa and Korea.

The all-important Cup final will take place at cup final is at midday on Sunday, April 9.

The Shield final will commence at 10am, the Bowl final will start at 10.30am, the Plate will begin at 11am.
