THE highly-anticipated first major of the year is nearly upon us as Augusta prepares for its annual four days of birdies, bloopers and drama.

Brit Danny Willett made a huge statement of intent after claiming the famous green jacket from Jordan Spieth last year following his heroic victory.

But only three players in Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods have won consecutive Masters titles so the odds are stacked against Willett to join the trio of legendary golfers.

When is the Masters 2017?

The Masters takes place every year around the first and second week of April.

For the upcoming event, the tournament will begin on April 6 and continue until the final Sunday on April 9.

Who are the recent Masters winners?

Danny Willett became the first Englishman since Nick Faldo in 1996 to win the Masters in 2016.

He was also the first European since Jose Maria Olazabal to win the green jacket since 1999.

What are the latest odds for the Masters?

2015 Masters winner Jordan Spieth is favourite at 5/1 with world No1 Jason Day joint-second favourite alongside Rory McIlroy at 7/1, alongside Dustin Johnson.

Talented Hideki Matsuyama is available at around 16s, with Jason Day as short around 14/1 for the title.

Sky Sports have exclusive coverage of the Masters and will be showing each day live.

Highlights will be broadcast regularly on the BBC.

How can I buy tickets to the Masters?

Unfortunately ticket application for the 2017 Masters Tournament has already concluded.

All tickets were sold in advance by a random selection policy.

However a host of tickets sites and travel agencies are still offering deals including flights and hotels but they won't come cheaply with prices starting around £2,400.

What is the prize money for winning the Masters?

In 2016 Danny Willett pocketed just over £1.4million for winning the tournament.

Joint second place Jordan Spieth and Lee Westwood each took home £700,000 whilst Paul Casey, J.B Holmes and Dustin Johnson each earned £330,000.
