ROOKIE Rob Cross faces 16-time world champ Phil Taylor in what stands to be a thrilling final to the PDC World Championship.

The 27-year-old Cross only turned pro at the start of the year. Taylor, 57, will call time on his illustrious career at the end of the event.

When is the World Darts Championship final?

As is the tradition, sports fans across the UK will be ringing in the New Year with the World Darts final.

This year’s showpiece will take place on Monday, January 1.

The action will begin at 8pm.

As has been the case since the tournament moved from Purfleet in 2008, the final will be played at Alexandra Palace.

What TV channel is the World Darts Championship final on?

As always, the World Darts Championship is being shown on Sky Sports.

The network has formed a new channel – Sky Sports Darts – for the duration of the tournament.

The final will be live on Sky Sports Darts and Sky Sports Main Event from 8pm.

How many sets do finalists play?

Finalists will play best of 13 sets (or first to seven) as has been the case since 2000.
