THE 2017 Invictus Games kicked off this week, and all eyes are on the inspirational competitors and the prince who made it all possible.
But what is the event all about and will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle make their first official appearance together? Here’s all you need to know.
What are the Invictus Games?
The Invictus Games are an international Paralympic-style sporting event for wounded, sick or injured members of the armed forces, as well as veterans.
The week-long event will see 550 competitors from 17 nations competing against one another in 12 different sports.
Prince Harry created the games after being inspired by the US Warrior Games, a similar sporting event for injured service personnel.
Sporting events at the Games include wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball and indoor rowing, and the events tend to attract a crowd packed with politicians and Royals.
The first ever Invictus Games took place in March 2014 at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, United Kingdom.
In Latin, Invictus means “unconquered” or “undefeated”, capturing the spirit of the injured services personnel who take part.
Where is the Invictus Games 2017? When does the Invictus Games start?
This year, the Invictus Games will be held in Toronto, Canada.
It all kicked off on Saturday, 23 September when Prince Harry officially opened the Games, which run until Saturday, September 30.
Is Prince Harry at the Invictus Games with Meghan Markle?
Prince Harry is likely to be a near-constant presence at the Games he founded.
And the Sun exclusively revealed that his girlfriend, Suits actress Meghan Markle, was expected to join him in Toronto, where she has lived for the past few years.
Although Harry and Meghan have been pictured together before, they had not made an appearance at a public event together since they started dating.
However, the besotted Harry and girlfriend Meghan looked every inch the loved-up couple when they were pictured together.
Holding Meghan’s hand as they walked along, Harry couldn’t keep the smile off his face.
The pair finally got to sit together today after the royal joined Melania Trump for the opening of the event.
