ENGLAND’Ss spectacular win over India in the Women’s Cricket World Cup in July saw history being made at Lords.
After making her England debut at 16, Anya Shrubsole had the performance of a lifetime to help her squad to lift the trophy.
Anya Shrubsole was the hero with the ball as she took six wicketsThe 25-year-old bowler was also part of the squad which drew the 2017 Ashes series with Australia earlier this month.
Where did her love of cricket come from?
SHRUBSOLE fell in love with the game through her father, Ian Shrubsole who represented Bath at Lord’s in 2001.
Earlier this year, whilst reminiscing on that time, her father’s tweet went viral as he remembered her wishing she could one day play their too.
When was she named vice-captain?
HEATHER KNIGHT was named England women’s captain following the retirement of Charlotte Edwards in 2016.
During the appointment by coach Mark Robinson, he also announced that Shrubsole would be named vice-captain.

How did she make history?
AFTER being a non-playing member of 2009 World Cup winning England squad, Shrubsole struggled at the start of the tournament.
Coming into her own during the semi-final win against South Africa, she bowled her allotted 10 overs for the first time in the competition.
Her performance grew in strength again and she became the first woman in history to take more than four wickets in a World Cup final.
She was voted player of the game in the final at Lord’s with a match winning 6/46.
