Wimbledon 2016: Novak Djokovic banned from riding his bike around All England Club after nearly crashing
WIMBLEDON champion Novak Djokovic has been banned from riding his bike through the All England Club grounds after a near miss with supply vehicle.
The Serbian superstar, who starts the defence of his crown against Britain’s James Ward on Centre Court on Monday, narrowly avoided crashing into the vehicle last week.
The world No 1 likes to pedal around the venue as part of his conditioning preparation due to its steep slopes.
But now the French Open champion has been served with a warning with a Wimbledon player-liaison official telling him he could not use his bike any more for his own safety.
The 29-year-old Djokovic was reportedly unhappy to be banned on safety grounds when he did not appear to be breaking any rules.

A Wimbledon spokesman said cycling was encouraged but not during the Championships, or in the build-up.
The grounded Djokovic now arrives on foot as holder of all four Grand Slam titles and on course for the first calendar-year Slam since Rod Laver in 1969.
He is also chasing a hat-trick of Wimbledon titles.
