GOOGLE have revealed the most searched for sporting events for 2017… with Wimbledon coming out trumps.
The world-famous tennis tournament beat the likes of the 2018 World Cup draw, the Grand National and even Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather to clinch the No1 spot.
The summer tournament at SW19 was searched for more often in Google than arguably the most famous horse race in the world – good enough only for second-place.
This month’s World Cup draw – which saw England teamed-up with Belgium, Tunisia and Panama – took the No3 spot, ahead of August’s Las Vegas super-fight.
Slightly surprisingly, cricket’s ICC Champions Trophy – won by Pakistan – took fifth-place in terms of Google searches, above the Tour De France.
The Confederations Cup came in No7 in terms of top trending sporting events in the UK, with Anthony Joshua’s stunning win over Wladimir Klitschko only coming in eighth.
Incredibly, the FA Cup final beat the Champions League final – played in Cardiff – to the ninth spot in the UK search charts, as no British team was on show in the European showdown.
In terms of the most-searched Premier League teams, it’s Manchester United who come out on top.

Liverpool rank No2, ahead of Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Everton respectively.
Premier League-leaders Manchester City were only searched enough to clinch seventh spot – with West Ham, Newcastle and Leicester rounding-out the top ten.

At the other end of the table, Bournemouth took the wooden spot – ranking 20th for searches in Google.
Top-flight newbies Brighton and Huddersfield complete the “relegation zone” – with Swansea, Burnley and Watford just ahead of them.
Now it’s time to turn our attention to 2018 – set to be an action-packed year of sport.
As well as the summer’s World Cup in Russia, there’s the Winter Olympics to look forward to – as well as the usual suspects in the world of football, tennis, cricket, rugby, athletics, American sports, golf and a host of potentially thrilling boxing bouts.
