Wimbledon will ban Jeremy Corbyn T-shirts and stop fans chanting the Labour leader’s name

WIMBLEDON might be known for its strawberries and cream – but now it is enforcing a low-Corb diet.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club will ban Jeremy Corbyn T-shirts and tell umpires to stop fans chanting the Labour leader’s name.

But it’s nothing personal.

SW19 has strict rules against political slogans in general – vocal as well as on clothes.

Umpires will first say “quiet, please” if people in the crowd sound off political views, according to the Daily Telegraph.

But stewards could be called in if supporters Labour the point.

Many social media users claim the ban will actually inspire Corbyn fans.

Matt Turner tweeted: “Wimbledon’s ban on Corbyn chants is going to backfire. The British hate being told what to do.”

Meanwhile, Corbyn has reportedly been invited to the Royal Box, as is the tradition for senior politicians such as opposition leaders.

But he would surely cause a racket with his left-wing supporters if he took a place there alongside establishment figures.

Theresa May but Jeremy surely may not.
