Winter Olympics 2018: Italian biathlete Dorothea Wierer could be a Bond Girl as she fires rifle on the slopes of Pyeongchang

ITALIAN star Dorothea Wierer stunned on the slopes of Pyeongchang this week.

The 27-year-old looked straight out of a James Bond film as she fired her rifle in the 10km biathlon.

Unfortunately for Wierer, who had entered the competition with an outside chance at a medal, she could only finish 15th – her performance hugely affected by five errors.

Skiing has been a massive part of the James Bond franchise, with six films featuring thrilling chases down slopes around the world.

The most famous Bond ski sequence ends with Roger Moore hurtling off the side of a mountain – before he pulls open a Union Jack parachute and the opening credits roll in The Spy Who Loved Me.

Wierer had entered the Games as one of the top biathletes in the world.

She had dominated the junior circuit, winning five individual medals between 2008 and 2011.

At the Sochi Olympics, Wierer won a bronze in the relay, but then in the 10km pursuit in 2016 she won silver.

Speaking to the Italian media, Wierer revealed she was suffering from cold-like symptoms and found it difficult to shoot.

Wierer said she was ‘not fluid’ in her performance[/caption]

She said: “I really suffered from the cold.

“They are very difficult conditions but I in particular suffered.

“Everything is in pain and I almost have cramp. I am absolutely not fluid.

“I set off and I hadn’t warmed up properly and at the first polygon, I could no longer feel my fingers and I didn’t know if I was pulling the trigger or not.”
