Talisca is another player targeted by super agent Jorge Mendes who is recruiting players for Wolves’ new Chinese owners Fosun International.

Mendes is also a pal of new manager Walter Zenga who has been told to get Wolves, who play Crawley in the League Cup tonight, promoted this season.

Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira was with Mendes at at Wolves’ opening Championship game at Rotherham last Saturday to finalise the transfer.

But the Talisca deal could just be a one-year contract rather than a loan move.

Benfica were asking around £20million for the player but the final fee could be lower.

Fosun hold a minority share in Gestifute, Mendes’ sports agency business.
