Ireland had pipped Wales to second in Group D in their final game showdown.

In the tenth fixture of the group stages, Ireland beat Wales 1-0 at the Cardiff City Stadium to reach this point.

James McClean scored a 57th-minute winner to kill Chris Coleman’s dream, having led his nation to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 just last year.

Meanwhile, Denmark reached this point courtesy of finishing second in Group E.

Christian Eriksen and Co won six of their ten games – losing two – as they finished behind rampant Poland.

Denmark beat Montenegro, Romania, Armenia and Kazakhstan to the second spot.

The draw has been fairly kind to the Irish, who could have faced Italy.

Elsewhere, Northern Ireland have been drawn to play Switzerland, Croatia will play Greece and Sweden will battle it out with Italy.
