He received a huge ovation following his four-year absence and rolled back the years to the delight of the crowd.

Mysterio, 43, hit a fabulous double-619 on Roman Reigns and John Cena before missing out on being part of the final four after Finn Balor eliminated him.

And after the event the iconic masked star revealed his delight at being back inside a WWE ring in front of his legion of fans.

He said: “It’s incredible. It’s been almost three years since I’ve heard that WWE fan reaction and to be honest with you, a lot of people say it’s luck and a lot of people say it’s awesome to hear that but I’ll tell you, I’m truly blessed.

“I’m truly blessed to come back and realise the fans don’t forget about you, and not only the fans but the WWE family.

“This is a universal reaction and it feels good, it feels great.”
