WWE Monday Night Raw: Goldberg returns to spear Braun Strowman with Roman Reigns as road to Royal Rumble hots up

GOLDBERG returned to Monday Night Raw as the show ended with a double-spear on Braun Strowman.

The former heavyweight champion was a guest on the Kevin Owen’s show when Roman Reigns came out to confront him.

Braun Strowman then came out after Paul Heyman teased fans that Brock Lesnar was at the event.

Both Goldberg and Reigns then speared the Monster to end the show.

The first match of the night kicked off with Kevin Owens taking on Seth Rollins – with the loser being banned from ringside for the Roman Reigns vs Chris Jericho clash.

Rollins started on the front foot throwing himself over the top rope and onto the Universal champion twice in the opening moments.

But Owens took the advantage and started to beat down his opponent and hit a devastating DDT to keep Rollins down.

Owens then launched Rollins out of the ring but allowed him back into the fight as he cannon balled into the wall outside.

The champ then missed with a pop-up powerbomb and Rollins pulled off an enziguiri.

The match then moved to outside the ring and Rollins sent Owens into the time-keeping area.

Owens’ frustration then took over and he used the bell as a weapon to be disqualified.

Reigns successfully defended his US title against Jericho in the match later on in the night.

Jericho almost got the better of his opponent with some dirty tricks and he threw the belt at Reigns and fell to the matt.

Y2J had previously exposed the turnbuckle but would later run head first into it and be hit with a spear by Reigns who then got the three count.

Cesaro lost to Karl Anderson after his tag-team partner Sheamus accidentally sent the Swiss superstar onto the ropes.

The Irishman came to the ring after Luke Gallows started interfering in the match.

Anderson then hit a kneckbreaker from the top rope and got the three count.

Sami Zayne then took on Braun Strowman in a last man standing match and was quick to get weapons involved.

The Canadian whacked the man-mountain with a kendo stick before attempting a moonsault only to be caught and dumped onto the security wall.

Zayne then looked to get the advantage back after pushing Strowman into the ring post multiple times but was then nearly knocked out with a massive punch.

The fight then moved to the backstage area and Zayne knocked the wind out of his opponent with a couple of chair shots.

In a last ditch attempt to win Zayne then threw himself at Strowman and through a table but he still managed to beat the 10-count.

And Zayne could not capitalise as he was hit with a running powerslam and had to be taken out on a stretcher at the end of the match.

To add insult to injury, Strowman then returned to ringside and threw Zayne against the barricade before finally leaving the arena and Mick Foley looked on in shock.

The New Day announced all three members would be taking part in the Royal Rumble match.

Xavier Woods then took on Titus O’Neil in a one-on-one match after he was called the weakest link in the New Day.

Woods got the win with a sunset flip out of nowhere and Kofi Kingston and Big E cheered on their team-mate.

Big Cass was then beaten in a handicap match by Rusev and Jinder Mahal.

The numbers game caught up with the 7ft tall monster and the Bulgarian brute was able to hit a big boot and get the pin.

Bayley will go to the Royal Rumble to face Charlotte for the women’s title.

The former NXT champion defeated Nia Jaxx with a Bayley-to-Bayley suplex from the second rope.

Sascha Banks had distracted Jaxx by coming out to confront her after she attacked her on last week’s Raw.
