ZINEDINE ZIDANE will hold a press conference at 12pm BST as speculation surrounding his future rises.

The Real Madrid head coach led his side to a third successive Champions League title on Saturday but this unscheduled press conference could signal the end of his tenure at the Bernabeu.

LATEST HERE Zidane has RESIGNED as Real Madrid manager

Zidane, 45, replaced Rafael Benitez in January 2016 and in his two-and-a-half seasons has won one La Liga, one Supercopa de Espana, two Uefa Super Cups and 2 Fifa Club World Cups in addition to the Champions League triumphs.

No team had retained the European Cup in the Champions League era until the Frenchman guided his side to glory in the final against Juventus last season.

And, with the help of Loris Karius and a Gareth Bale wondergoal, Real Madrid secured a hat-trick of Champions Leagues on Saturday in Kiev.

This helped to paper over some of the cracks which showed throughout the domestic season.

Real Madrid finished third, three points behind Atletico Madrid and 17 behind champions Barcelona.

Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long for the glorious world of Twitter to respond to the news with fans of some clubs getting their hopes up.

This morning, Shrewsbury Town CEO Brian Caldwell announced the club are looking for an “ambitious manager” to replace the new Ipswich Town manager Paul Hurst.

Rumours have surfaced this season that not all is well in the dressing room.

This was highlighted after the full-time whistle on Saturday when Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo both hinted at imminent departures from the club.

Neymar has, though, been heavily linked with a move back to Spain after just one season at PSG.

But whether Zidane will be the man in charge come the beginning of the new season remains to be seen and his rumoured departure could be confirmed at today’s press conference.

Tottenham fans will be breathing a huge sigh of relief after Mauricio Pochettino signed a contract extension last week.

Zidane could, of course, be confirming a contract extension, too, but the shock and immediacy of the press conference suggest a big announcement could well be on the cards.
