THE chief executive of Zorya Luhansk went into a shocking homophobic rant following his club’s Europa League trip to Manchester.
The Ukranian side fell to a 1-0 defeat to United courtesy of a Zlatan Ibrahimovic strike, but Sergey Rafailov’s comments have now, unfortunately, taken centre stage.
He expressed his anger at seeing “men kissing on the street”, “homeless people”, and how “dirty” Manchester city centre was.
Incredibly, the foolish CEO’s comments were posted on the club’s official website.
Translated from Ukrainian, Rafailov said: “We were in Manchester and I do not like this city. it is very dirty.
"Near the hotel, which was in the city centre, there were people sleeping on the pavement at night.
"I was walking in the evening and went a little further from the centre and it was worse with loads of drunk people.
"Stranger for me was to see men kissing on the street, I do not like it.
"I would not like my grandchildren going outside and seeing men kissing and seeing homeless people sleeping in the centre of the city."
Interestingly, Zorya cannot play in the region they are from, Luhansk Oblast, because of war there.
United travel to take on Zorya Luhansk on December 8, and it is hoped these comments will not escalate tensions ahead of, and during, the game.
