Alberto Gallego, Samuele Conti handed doping bans

Suspensions for Alberto Gallego and Samuele Conti have been added to the UCI’s list of sanctions for “anti-doping rule violations.”

Gallego, a promising up-and-comer who recorded numerous Europe Tour top 10s in 2015, returned a positive test for banned anabolic steroid stanozolol on January 3, just days after signing with Caja Rural. The team promptly sacked him following the news. According to the suspension list posted on the UCI’s website, the Spaniard has been handed a ban of three years and nine months, starting with the date of his positive test.

Conti (Willier – Southeast) tested positive for a growth hormone on August 13. The UCI has banned the 25-year-old Italian for three years and seven months from the date of the test.
