California cyclist Shawn D’Aurelio received a four-year ban for refusing to provide a sample in an out-of-competition test, USADA announced Monday.
According to a release, the 34-year-old “has been disqualified from all competitive results obtained on and subsequent to July 13, 2016, the date he refused to submit a sample.” Refusal to submit a sample constitutes a doping violation under USADA protocol.
The ban officially began on September 29, the date D’Aurelio accepted the sanction.
