Aki to face misconduct charge

Connacht centre Bundee Aki will face a disciplinary hearing for comments made after his side’s recent loss to Leinster in Galway.

Aki has been formally charged with misconduct by the disciplinary officer of PRO12 Rugby as a result of his behaviour to and remarks directed toward referee Ian Davies, during and immediately after the Round 20 fixture on April 15.

Those actions constitute misconduct under the tournament’s disciplinary rules, in particular pursuant to the clauses set out in Section 3. Aki will attend the disciplinary hearing in Cardiff via video link on Thursday, April 27.

The disciplinary panel will consist of two members, Roger Morris (chairman) and Simon Thomas (both Wales), which has been approved by Connacht Rugby. If the misconduct complaint is upheld by the disciplinary panel then Aki could face a fine and/or a suspension.
