Scarlets head coach Wayne Pivac says in-form Irish second-row Tadhg Beirne may leave the Welsh region at the end of the season.
The versatile lock and loose forward joined the side from Leinster and has been an integral member of the Scarlets squad.
Pivac fears Beirne’s desire to represent Ireland at Test level may force him to move on.
“We would love to keep Tadhg, but he has got burning ambitions to play for Ireland like all our Welsh boys have to play for Wales and that is the way it should be,” Pivac told BBC.
Beirne’s reputation has blossomed recently and reports in the Irish press claim Munster will attempt to bring him back to Ireland.
“Part of it will be out of our control, but certainly we will be looking at other players as well,” Pivac continued. “Tadhg came in from outside so if he were to go I am sure we will find someone to replace him.”
Beirne was awarded man-of-the-match after last Saturday’s bonus-point win over Edinburgh, moving Scarlets to second place in Conference B of the PRO14.
