Edinburgh's WP Nel and Glasgow Warriors' Zander Fagerson returned to training for Scotland ahead of next weekend's clash with England at Murrayfield.
The two tighthead props missed Scotland's opening Six Nations fixtures against Wales and France. Nel has been sidelined since breaking his arm against Samoa in November and Fagerson injured his foot during a Warriors training session at the start of January.
Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend believes the duo's return will help the team's preparations for the crucial clash with the defending champions.
"He [Nel] is running around," Townsend told Sky Sports.
"He trained with us on Wednesday and we are just having a look.
"Zander trained with us today because Glasgow have a game so we will see how they get on this week and potentially next week we will be able to make a call on whether they are available, or it could be after the England game."
Meanwhile, Fraser Brown (hooker) is also on the road to recovery from his concussion issues but will not be fit to take on England while Townsend said an update on Richie Gray's calf injury will come over the next few days.
"We hope he (Fraser) will resume full training next week, but that's likely to be with his club but he should be back available pretty soon," he added.
"It is a huge boost to have those experienced players in similar positions is a boost.
"The other is Richie Gray and we will know more this weekend whether he will be back full training too."
