‘Simply not good enough’ – Addison

Sale Sharks winger Will Addison has said his side were “simply not good enough” in their home defeat to Gloucester on Friday.

Sale lost 26-13 against the Gloucester side that tarnished their 100 per-cent home record last season, as tries from John Afoa and Charlie Sharples helped sealed the win for the visitors.

“It’s not good enough, simply not good enough,” Addison told the Sale Sharks official website.

“We worked hard in the week and we weren’t able to put it together in the game. We never really got going and we were made to pay for that.”

Addison found himself on kicking duty early in the game after Dan Mugford suffered a knock to his foot, and also had to replace Sam James at outside centre in the second half, but he says he was prepared for the changes.

“I’m a 13 by nature, just playing on the wing, so that’s where I want to be really. I’ve grown up playing at centre.

“With the kicks, I am used to it and I’ve been practicing in training just in case, but I wasn’t happy at all with the second – I should’ve scored that.”

Ahead of The Sharks’ trip to Sixways next week, the winger highlighted the importance of getting back to winning ways against Worcester Warriors.

“We just have to win. We have to look at what went wrong tonight and put it right.

“They’re a physical team, just like Gloucester, so we’ll have to face up to that. It’s been a stop-start season so getting some back-to-back wins can help us kick on, and that can start against Worcester.”
