Watford v Newcastle United

Rafael Benitez will be aiming to end Watford’s dominance over Newcastle in Saturday’s English Premier League clash at Vicarage Road.

Watford have won their last three Premier League meetings with Newcastle, including a 3-0 win at St James’ Park in the reverse fixture.

However, the Hornets go into the match without a win in their last seven Premier League games and have failed to get a goal in five of them.

For Newcastle, Benitez has vowed to make several changes to the team as the Magpies have nothing to play for in their remaining three games.

The Spanish manager will also be looking for a response from his side that have lost two games in a row.

The Toon are still searching for their first ever win away to Watford having managed three draws and four losses.

Islam Slimani will miss the match for Newcastle after he admitted to the Football Association charge of violent conduct for kicking out at West Brom defender Craig Dawson in last weekend’s match.

The Magpies will also be without Ciaran Clark and Christian Atsu, who are both nursing knee injuries.

Tom Cleverley is among the long term absentees for Watford.

Benitez admitted that he is expecting his side to bounce back from their last two defeats to Everton and West Brom.

“A team like us, we have to be organised, we have to play with intensity and everything has to be done with the same pace and the same passion we had in the past,” he said.

“Our idea is to get three points in every game, especially when you lose a couple. We will make some changes, trying to keep everyone on their toes.”
