AGUSTIN ALONSO

A versatile back-row, Alonso plies his trade with Montevideo back in Uruguay, and has been part of the national set-up since 2014. He made his debut away to Romania, coming off the bench, and has since been used at both blindside flanker and number eight.
CARLOS ARBOLEYA
Hooker/Prop 1.73m 100kg 23.07.1985
Able to play at both prop and hooker, Arboleya made his Test debut in 2004 against Georgia. Uruguay have 41 percent win rate when he plays. He plays his club rugby for Trebol.
FERNANDO BASCOU
Flanker 1.85m 90kg 05.04.1987
Experienced openside flanker Bascou made his Test debut back in 2011 against Spain. He has been involved with los Teros regularly since then, and was part of the Uruguay team that beat an Argentine XV in August 2015.
MATIAS BEER

Young back-row Matias Beer earned his first cap aged just 20 against Paraguay in 2014. He actually started out in the second row for los Teros, but has since been used more in the back row. He plays club rugby for Old Christians.
FELIPE BERCHESI
Fly-half 1.78m 80kg 12.04.1991
Another of Uruguay's professional players, Berchesi plies his trade in France for Carcassonne in Pro D2, earning the move after a prolific season with Chambéry in Fédérale 1. An accomplished goal-kicker, he reached 100 points in Test rugby in August's warm-up clash with Japan.
MANUEL BLENGIO

A young fly-half, Blengio has earned 10 caps in his first year of international rugby, after making his debut against Paraguay in April. He plays his club rugby for Old Christians.
FRANCINO BHULANTI
Wing 1.78m 87kg 12.04.1980
The oldest player in the Uruguay squad, Bulanti is now 35, having made his debut all the way back in 2004. After being in and out of the side for much of his career, he has featured more regularly in recent seasons, however he is not first choice among the wingers in the squad.
ALEJO CORRAL

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Alejo Corral is the younger brother of Matías Corral, who played for Argentina from 1992 and until his retirement after the 1995 Rugby World Cup and Estanislao Corral, member of the squad that drew against Australia in 1987. The three brothers are loosehead props. His family moved to Uruguay while he was still in primary school. He made his Test debut in 2005.
JUAN DE FREITAS
Flanker 1.90m 100kg 13.12.1989
After making his Test debut aged just 20, De Freitas as featured regularly for Uruguay, racking up 34 caps. He is incredibly versatile, having started Tests both in the centres, at fly-half, on the wing and in the back row, and was even used as a replacement scrum-half during the qualifiers against Russia.
ALEJO DURAN

A versatile half-back, Duran has played both scrum-half and fly-half for Uruguay although he is most regularly used off the bench. Still only 24, he plays his club rugby for Trébol de Paysandú.
OSCAR DURAN

An experienced front rower, Duran has featured at both hooker and prop at Test level. He made his debut back in 2001 and has made over 30 appearances for his country.
JERONIMO ETCHEVERRY
Fullback/Wing 1.70m 75kg 11.01.1988
Third in Uruguay's all-time points list, Etcheverry has already racked up over 200 points at Test level. A fly-half or full-back, he spent three years in Italy with Valpolicella before returning to Uruguay in 2014.
JUAN MANUAL GAMINARA

A part of the Uruguay squad since 2010, Gaminara is relatively experienced at Test level, with 23 caps to his name before the World Cup. A regular over the last two years, he started both games against Russia as Uruguay qualified for the tournament.
SANTIAGO GIBERNAU

Experienced winger Gibernau has been part of the Uruguay set-up since 2009, and has also started games in the centres and at full-back for los Teros. He plays his club rugby for Carrasco Polo.
GERMAN KESSLER

A young hooker, Kessler made his debut in 2015 against Paraguay. Used mainly as a reserve he started only four of his first 11 games. He plays his club rugby for Los Cuervos.
NICOLAS KLAPPENBACH
Back-row 1.78m 97kg 25.03.1982
A practicing physician, Klappenbach plays for Champagnat Rugby, in Uruguay. He made his Test debut in 2005 and has also captained the national team.
FRANCO LAMANNA
Lock 1.90m 90kg 05.10.1991
Second row Lamanna made his debut in 2012, when he was still just 20 years old. He has racked up 22 caps since then, while he plays his club rugby for Carrasco Polo Club. He also had a brief spell in Italy playing for Perugia in the Italian Serie A but returned home after suffering a serious knee injury.
LEANDRO LEIVAS

Winger Leivas has been an important part of the Uruguay side in recent seasons, and has won 41 caps since making his debut in 2008. He has two Test hat-tricks to his name, against Chile and Kazakhstan.
DIEGO MAGNO

He may be just 26 years old, but back row Magno is already Uruguay most experienced player in their World Cup squad, with 48 caps to his name. After making his debut back in 2008, he has been used both in the second row and the back row and has also captained the side on two occasions.
GASTON MIERES
Utility-back 1.78m 70kg 05.10.1989
Based in Italy, Mieres is one of the more experienced members of the Uruguay squad, with 36 caps to his name. Capable of playing on the wing or at full-back, he plays his club rugby for Valpolicella.
ALEJANDRO NIETO
Number-eight 1.85m 105kg 07.01.1988
Powerful number eight Nieto has been part of the Uruguay squad since 2012, notching up 27 caps in the four seasons since breaking through. He plays club rugby for Champagnat, and started the play-off games against Russia in 2014.
AGUSTIN ORMEACHEA
Scrum-half 1.80m 88kg 08.03.1991
One of the very few professionals in the Uruguay squad, Ormaechea arguably arrives at the World Cup with the most pedigree, playing his club rugby for Pro D2 side Mont de Marsan. A former Sevens player, as well as a scrum-half at XVs, he is the son of the legendary Diego Ormaechea, Uruguay's greatest ever player.
MATHIAS PALOMEQUE
Lock 1.91m 100kg 10.07.1986
An experienced, highly-regarded lock in his home country, Palomeque made his Test debut against Brazil in 2011. He plays his club rugby for Trébol de Paysandú.
JOAQUIN PRADA
Centre 1.80m 87kg 15.07.1991
A regular for Uruguay over the last three seasons, Prada is most often used at outside centre, but has also played fly-half and on the wing for his country. An occasional goal-kicker, the 24-year-old plays his club rugby for Los Cuervos. His try against Russia proved crucial as Uruguay qualified for the World Cup.
ALBERTO ROMAN

A key member of the Uruguay squad, Roman has generally been used in the centres, although he has dropped out of the starting lineup in the build-up to the World Cup. He did however start both play-off games against Russia in 2014.
MARIO SAGARIO

One of only a few Uruguayans to play professional rugby overseas, Sagario plays for RC Massy in the Pro D2 in France having moved there from another French club, Dax, for whom he signed his first professional contract in 2010. A product of the Carrasco Polo Club, he made his Test debut in 2006.
MATEO SANGUINETTI

From the Uruguayan capital city of Montevideo, Sanguinetti made his international debut in 2014 against Brazil.
RODRIGO SILVA
Scrum-half 1.83m 76kg 02.11.1992
A diminutive back, Silva has played at scrum-half, fly-half, on the wing and at full-back in his short Uruguay career so far. His last cap came on the wing during the victory over an Argentine XV in August.
SANTIAGO VILASECA
Flanker 1.75m 80kg 17.09.1984
He currently plays at lock for the Old Boys Club in the Campeonato Uruguayo de Rugby. Vilaseca will captain his country at the 2015 Rugby World Cup. He made his debut against the USA in 2008.
ANDRES VILASECA
Wing 1.85m 82kg 08.05.1991
Centre or winger Andres Vilaseca is the brother of Uruguay skipper Santiago. He made his Test debut on the wing in 2013, but has been used more in the centres recently, starting at inside centre in both games against Japan in August.
JORGE ZERBINO
Lock 1.91m 91kg 27.12.1991
Young lock Zerbino plays his club rugby for Old Christians, and made his international debut for Uruguay in 2015 against Paraguay. He has since featured regularly for the South Americans and started both games in the tour to Japan.
