Truly Inspired

Last week, on Tuesday during Episode 35 of the JTCiS we
had a guest from halfway across the world. Fellow Jeep Wrangler Rubicon owner, Dan from The Road Chose Me, joined us. He shared his amazing story about his 80,000 mile trek across the continent of Africa.

About eight months ago he began his over-land journey in his Jeep Wrangler trekking across this vast land. His story was so amazing, and it is still being told as he has another year and a half to go.

Dan's story was truly inspiring for me! There were many points during the interview I felt my tears well up. I have been on my own Jeep journey navigating some life crossroads as I have reached the half century mark in my life.
The story Dan shared hit deep into my soul.

Dan shared his love for adventure, which got me thinking about my love for adventure. On his website he talks about working less to live your dreams.

I downloaded his book and began reading it. I still have many chapters to go. But during the interview I began to think about my own dreams of adventures. Dan at one point told me it's possible and I don't need to wait until I retire.

One of my dreams I have had for years is to rent an RV and travel across America. I am not like most people who want to see other lands. I just have this deep down desire to see America. When I was younger my parents gave me a glimpse, but it just wasn't enough.

It wasn't until the past couple of years where it started to resurface. I guess reaching that 50 year old milestone does something to your psyche.

So here I am, wanting to see America. Dan tells me I can do it. So I decided to quit dreaming about it, and start doing something about it.

Today begins Day one, Step one. Come up with a plan for my Overland North America. As a mom with kids still in school this poses many obstacles. Especially when my family doesn't share the same dreams and interests as myself. But if there is a will there is a way.

Follow me as I begin the first steps... Will this dream become a reality? Only time will tell. But for it to become a reality I need to begin to plan not just dream.

But first.... MOAB here I come!!!!
