We’re Hiring A Politics Editor

Want to be at the center of two of the most important elections in modern U.S. history? (And that’s just to start with.) Are you super organized, collaborative and hardworking? If so, we’ve got a job for you.

FiveThirtyEight is seeking a politics editor to help lead our coverage of the 2018 and 2020 elections. This is one of our most significant editor positions; this editor will be responsible for overseeing a team of staff and freelance writers covering the 2018 midterms (House, Senate and gubernatorial races) and the 2020 presidential election (primaries and general).

FiveThirtyEight is already well-known for our elections coverage; we need someone who can execute and build on that vision. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with both statistical evidence and traditional reporting and must have experience covering or editing coverage of U.S. politics with an electoral focus. Experience working with multiple formats — writing, data visualization, interactive graphics, podcasts — is a major plus. The politics editor will be responsible for helping writers and visual journalists with a wide range of experience levels and journalistic backgrounds.

For more information about the role, which is based in New York, send inquiries to contact@fivethirtyeight.com with the phrase “Politics Editor” in the subject line. To apply, please visit the Disney careers web site.
