JuJu Watkins's Commitment to USC Evokes Thrilling Team Reaction

Players on the Trojans women’s basketball team were, to say the least, excited about the decision of the Sierra Canyon star.

When top women’s hoops prospect JuJu Watkins chose to remain home and commit to USC on Tuesday, there was no group of people who were happier than her future Trojan teammates.

Players on the USC women’s basketball team like forward Koi Love and guards Destiny Littleton and Bella Perkins were inside a gymnasium listening to Watkins’s commitment.

“There’s no place like home,” Watkins said inside a packed gymnasium at Sierra Canyon High School on Tuesday. “So, I will be spending my next four years at the University of Southern California.”

The exact moment after Watkins pronounced the word “California,” the team rejoiced with excitement.

When is the last time you watched an entire team get this excited about a future player entering the program? Watkins, who grew up 10 miles from USC’s campus, chose the Trojans over South Carolina and Stanford.

Last season, the two-time USA Basketball U-17 gold medalist and reigning California Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year averaged 25 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.9 blocks per game while leading the program to a 30–2 mark.
