NFL Betting Advice: Favorite Super Bowl, AFC, NFC Future Odds

Our betting analysts provide their Super Bowl, AFC and NFC bets for the upcoming season.

Time is almost up to place preseason NFL wagers because, well, the season is just about here.

There’s been plenty of odds movement throughout a wild offseason, but what we see now—the Bills as the favorites, the Texans and Falcons at the bottom and everything in between—is pretty much where things will stand when the season kicks off Thursday. So now is the time for the SI Betting and SI Fantasy teams to plant their flags on their picks to win the AFC, NFC and the 2023 Super Bowl.

There was less overlap than you might expect. See which of our writers are backing which teams this season.

Patrick Mahomes is going to serve a reminder to the NFL that he’s still the man and doesn’t need Tyreek Hill to win big.

SI Senior Betting Writer Frankie Taddeo: Bengals (+2000)

A rematch of last season’s Super Bowl between the Bengals and Rams results in a new champion as the young Bengals finish the deal. Getting +2000 odds is solid value on one of the NFL’s best young offensive attacks. The “world” is backing Buffalo, so let’s shoot for the bigger payout!

SI Fantasy and Betting Writer Kyle Wood: Bills (+600)

It's chalk, but Josh Allen and Co. were 13 seconds from beating the Chiefs and returning to the AFC Championship Game. Even without Brian Daboll dialing up the offense, this is the year they bring the Lombardi Trophy to Buffalo.

Fantasy Writer Shawn Childs: Chargers (+1400)

An elite quarterback and stud running back paired with an improving defense = a championship for the Chargers.

SI Fantasy Editor Craig Ellenport: Rams (+1000)

The Rams become the first Super Bowl repeater since 2004.

SI Fantasy and Betting Writer Jen Piacenti: Bills (+600)

This is the year it finally all comes together for Josh Allen and Buffalo.

SI Fantasy Editor Matt De Lima: Bengals (+2000)

I’m not sure what Vegas knows about the Bengals that I don’t because the Bengals are a tremendous value with +2000 odds. I don’t know how anybody can root against quarterback Joe Burrow, receiver Ja’Marr Chase, etc.

SI Fantasy/Betting Managing Editor Bill Enright: Bills (+600)

I hate taking the favorite but even at +600 odds the Bills offer solid value. This is the best team in football.

AFC Future Odds Betting Breakdown

Fabiano: Raiders (+2000)

Derek Carr, Davante Adams and the Raiders in the Super Bowl? Why not?

Ehalt: Ravens (+900)

A motivated Lamar Jackson in a contract year playing against a fourth-place schedule makes the Ravens quite appealing.

Taddeo: Bengals (+1000)

The Bengals have to be motivated to avenge the Super Bowl loss. A team with one of the best quarterbacks in Burrow and arguably the best pair of young wideouts in Chase and Tee Higgins makes double-digit odds too tempting to pass on.

Wood: Bills (+333)

Of the top contenders, Buffalo plays in the easiest division (AFC East) and has the clearest path to the No. 1 seed. No one will want to see this team in the playoffs, especially in western New York come January.

Childs: Bengals (+1000)

Best young offense in the NFL, but the Bengals’ defense doesn’t look ready to hold down an elite offense in the biggest moments in January.

Ellenport: Colts (+1000)

Matt Ryan + Jonathan Taylor + AFC South schedule = home-field advantage in playoffs for the Colts.

Piacenti: Bills (+333)

This year, the Bills eliminate the Chiefs in the divisional round and the rest will be history.

De Lima: Colts (+1000)

I have a soft spot for Ryan and I’d like to see something like a bounce-back season for him with the Colts. The value’s not great but nothing else grabs me.

Enright: Bills (+333)

Can’t put the Bills in the Super Bowl without them first winning the AFC. Again betting on the favorite (+333) isn’t always fun but it lines up with how I see the season playing out.

Fabiano: Packers (+450)

No Adams? No problem. See you in the Super Bowl!

Ehalt: Eagles (+1000)

May as well take a 10-1 shot on an Eagles team that can be quite dangerous if Jalen Hurts takes the leap.

Taddeo: Rams (+450)

Until someone in the NFC knocks them off, I can’t fade the defending Super Bowl champions who arguably will be better on offense following the addition of Allen Robinson. The Rams lose the pass-rushing skills of Von Miller but gain one the best middle linebackers in former Seahawk Bobby Wagner.

Wood: Eagles (+1000)

I have less questions and concerns about Philadelphia than I do the other top teams in the NFC. All they did in the offseason was construct a juggernaut of a roster around Hurts, and he wouldn’t be the worst quarterback to make the big game in recent history, not by a long shot.

Childs: Vikings (+1800)

The Vikings’ improvement on defense should push them past the Packers, who need an identity at wide receiver.

Ellenport: Saints (+1600)

The Saints are better than people think and worth a shot at these odds.

Piacenti: Cardinals (+1400)

Getting 14- 1 odds for a Cardinals team that started 7-0 in 2021 and will be regaining DeAndre Hopkins midway through the season? Yes, please.

De Lima: Rams (+450)

It’s hard to pivot away from the Buccaneers or Rams in the NFC. Since Los Angeles provides a slightly better value (+450) than Tampa Bay (+300), I’m picking the Rams to make a return trip to the Super Bowl.

Enright: Packers (+450)

As much as I’d like to think Brady reaches another Super Bowl, I’m not willing to invest my money on the Bucs. Instead, I’ll take action on the Packers at +450 odds.
