Week 10 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Tight Ends

Broncos rookie Greg Dulcich is starting to garner some attention.

Start ‘Em, Sit 'Em is the ultimate look at the best and worst matchups based on a PPR scoring system in fantasy football. This column will not cover the elite players in the NFL like Josh Allen, Austin Ekeler or Cooper Kupp. Instead, I'll look at the players you have questions about who could exceed or fail to meet expectations at each position. Week 10 Start ‘Em: Tight Ends

Start of the Week

Greg Dulcich at Titans (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Dulcich has been on absolute fire since his return from injury, scoring a combined 36.2 fantasy points in three games. He’s also seen 17 targets in that time, so he certainly has the trust of Russell Wilson. The rookie also has a nice matchup against the Titans, who have allowed 20-plus points to two tight ends and the 10th-most points to the position overall in 2022.

Start ‘Em

Cade Otton vs. Seahawks (Munich, 9:30 a.m. ET, NFL Network): It’s too soon to call Otton the new “Gronk,” but he has scored 10-plus points in three of his last five games including a career-best 17.8 points last week. Next up is a date in Germany with the Seahawks, who have allowed 10-plus fantasy points to eight tight ends including two (T.J. Hockenson, Taysom Hill) who have scored over 30 points.

David Njoku vs. Dolphins (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Njoku (ankle) said he’s planning to return to action this week, but fantasy fans need to monitor his status. If he is able to play with no sort of snap limits, I’d start him against the Dolphins. Their defense has allowed 10-plus fantasy points to six tight ends, including three who have gone over 15 points. Cole Kmet also beat them for 22 points just last week.

Tyler Higbee vs. Cardinals (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox): Higbee has put up three straight stinkers, scoring a combined 5.2 fantasy points in that time. Still, it’s hard to ignore this week’s matchup against the Cardinals. No defense has allowed more points to opposing tight ends, and it’s tied for the most touchdowns allowed to the position. If Higbee can’t produce this week, well, he’ll be tough to trust the rest of the year.

Week 10 Sit ‘Em: Tight Ends

Sit of the Week

Robert Tonyan vs. Cowboys (4:05 p.m. ET, Fox): Tonyan failed to put up a good stat line last week despite a great matchup in Detroit, scoring just 5.9 points. He’s now failed to score more than 8.5 points in four of his last five games, and a game against the Cowboys makes him a fade. Their defense has allowed just one tight end to score more than 9.7 fantasy points, and just one has scored a touchdown.

Sit ‘Em

Kyle Pitts at Panthers (Thur. 8:15 p.m. ET, Prime Video): Pitts’s struggles were back on display last week, as he scored just 4.7 points in a loss to the Chargers. Next on the schedule is a date with the Panthers, who have allowed fewer than 11 points per game to tight ends this season. Pitts did beat them for 19 points back in Week 8, but his lack of consistent production makes him a risk nonetheless.

Gerald Everett at 49ers (8:15 p.m. ET, NBC): Everett finished as a top-12 tight end last week, but his 8.6 fantasy points was still a disappointment. He’s now put up single digit points in three of his last four games, and this week’s matchup in San Francisco makes him a risk-reward option. Their defense has been tough on tight ends, allowing two touchdowns and 8.8 points per game this season.

Mike Gesicki at Browns (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Gesicki put up another stinker last week, as the touchdown-dependent tight end failed to find the end zone in a win over the Bears. Next up is a date with the Brown, who have allowed just one tight end (Hunter Henry) to score a touchdown this season. What’s more, their defense has allowed an average of fewer than nine fantasy points a game to the position.
