World Cup Schedule: Quarterfinals Matchups Revealed


After a thrilling round of 16, many of the world’s top teams remain in the final field of eight.

The round of 16 at the 2022 Qatar World Cup has officially come to an end and just eight teams remain in the running to bring home the tournament’s coveted trophy. Next up: the quarterfinals. 

The remaining field is highlighted by some of the world’s most elite men’s national teams. Six of the remaining eight teams—Brazil (No. 1), Argentina (No. 3), France (No. 4), England (No. 5), Netherlands (No. 8) and Portugal (No. 9)—are in the top 10 of the FIFA world rankings. Croatia (No. 12) and Morocco (No. 22) are the other two teams still left in the bracket after thrilling, penalty shootout victories over Japan and Spain, respectively.

Now, the mighty will meet in a series of matches this weekend, with four spots in the semifinals on the line. All four matches will be standalone games and all four will air on Fox on Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 10.

Friday, Dec 9: 

  • Match 58: Croatia vs. Brazil (10 a.m. ET, Education City Stadium)
  • Match 57: Netherlands vs. Argentina (2 p.m. ET, Lusail Stadium)

Saturday, Dec. 10:

  • Match 60: Morocco vs. Portugal (10 a.m. EST, Al Thumama Stadium)
  • Match 59: England vs. France (2 p.m. EST, Al Bayt Stadium)
