AfterDark Technologies is releasing its first nighttime flag football kit at ‘Catch the Night on the Common’ on Boston Common, October 16, 2015. AfterDark Technologies is a sports-tech company aiming to revolutionize team sports by allowing sports play anywhere, anytime.

The AfterDark Flag football hopes to make players never think twice about the time of day of their flag football game. The use of LED cones at the field and end zones, fiber optic jerseys lighting the players, and an LED powered football should provide a fun game with an innovative twist. The illuminating lights also teach players how to safely play their favorite game.

Adults and children ages six and up have tested the gear in different leagues like Social Boston Sports and Texas Sports and Social Club. Jerseys are offered in custom colors, which offer a vibrant scene of alternating colors for fans on the sidelines. Games appear as a rave on the football field. There is also a customized quarterback countdown timer from 3 to 7 seconds. This countdown eliminates the usually difficult and unfair verbal countdown.

When using the LED powered football, just tap the ball to activate its lighting feature and watch the brightly colored ball dash across the night sky.

Flag football players are eager to play with the new gear. Dan Wilson says, “As a flag football player, it’s frustrating to run out of daylight or to incur the expense and hassle of finding a lighted field.”

AfterDark invites consumers and fans to come try out the new technology at Boston Common, a great way to get feedback and to propel their Kickstarter campaign. This event is a great way test the equipment in addition to having the chance of winning an LED football or a team (5v5) AfterDark Flag Football set. Can’t make the event? AfterDark encourages fans to apply to the AfterDark Flag Football Test Program.

AfterDark’s mission to improve and expand typical sport games is just another great way to get more kids out of the house. No longer will 10 year olds have excuses to stay in and play video games.
