Baltimore Ravens Host Startup Competition To Promote Innovation, Award Advertising Package


The Baltimore Ravens Innovation Challenge at Light City is a startup company competition hosted by the team that will take place at the Labs@LightCity festival on April 6.

The competition features six finalist startup companies that will present live pitches in front of a panel of judges and a live audience. The panel of judges will include Baltimore Ravens staff, investors, and other members of the local startup community.

The winner will receive a multi-platform advertisement package for the upcoming year that is valued at around $200,000, including LED signage at M&T Stadium, digital advertisements on the Ravens’ website and print advertising in the Ravens Yearbook and Ravens Gameday publications.

The finalist for the competition are:

DinnerTime: DinnerTime is an interactive meal planning service that combines healthy meals with time efficiency while providing health tips. DinnerTime’s goal is to “make it amazingly simple and affordable to plan, prepare and enjoy customized meals with family and friends at the dinner table.”

Fixt: Fixt is a mobile tech support service that strives to set up repair appointments within five minutes of a request. Fixt focuses on simplifying the repair process, so “Employees can now focus on the business and not the logistics.”

Hungry Harvest: Hungry Harvest hand packs and delivers “recovered” foods. Recovered food is produce that is misshapen or a logistical inefficiency (when grocery stores over order foods). Customers are able to list item preferences in their delivery and Hungry Harvest will deliver their shipment weekly or bi-weekly to certain sites.

Loople: Loople is a restaurant and bar review site that allows users to determine which restaurant and bars are open, and which are featuring special deals or live performances. The reviews are available in real-time to allow users to make on-the-go decisions.

Treason Toting Company: Treason Toting Company produces travel accessories from leather and canvas. They aim to “betray social and group expectations to shatter the status quo.”

Waxing Kara: Waxing Kara aims to make handmade goods out of bee produced materials such as wax and honey.

The listed startups are all based in Baltimore City or Baltimore County and have a revenue of under five million dollars, per requirements of the competition. Companies that were excluded from applying were industries the Baltimore Ravens had “category exclusive partners, including beer and financial services.” The winner will be determined by judge and audience voting. The startup that wins the competition will work directly with the Baltimore Ravens to produce its marketing package.
