LifeBeam, who develops bio-sensing technology, and Lazer, a helmet producer, announced the expansion of their partnership in bio-sensing sports gear. Their first joint project, the LifeBeam Smart Helmet, was the world’s first bio-sensing cycling helmet. On top of two new colors being released, production of the helmet will be ramped up and beginning in June, the helmet is set to be in stores in 50 countries.
The LifeBeam Smart Helmet combines Life Beam’s bio-sensing technology with the Lazer Genesis, which is an all-time classic performance helmet. The sensors within the helmet monitor calorie intake and heart rate using an aerospace-grade sensor. All of that data can then be sent to a smartphone, smart watch, or cycling computer via a Bluetooth connection. Lazer’s “Head Helmeteer”, Sean van Waes, said of the helmet’s capabilities, “Serious cyclists know that to boost their performance, they have to monitor their heart rate and other key vitals. The LifeBEAM helmet is the first cycling-dedicated product that makes heart rate tracking comfortable, cost effective and functional.”
