It’s many a sports fan’s dream or a coach’s unanswered desire to view the high-octane and stress-inducing action from every angle possible. Courtesy of Bubl, technology has caught up to that request with the introduction of the Bublcam.

“We describe Bubl in general as an end to end, spherical or immersive technologies solutions provider,” said Sean Ramsay, CEO of Bubl. “Our goal with the Bublcam was to allow people to have spherical technology they could carry around in their hand. Our goal, in that sense, is to provide everyone the ability to create and share this type of content.”

The 280-gram, spherical ball shaped camera allows its users to capture literally every angle in view, without blind spots, and share those still images, videos, or time lapses for the world to see.

In 2009, after watching his two-year-old daughter struggle to capture both herself and her grandmother in a photo using a smartphone, Ramsay immediately found his breakthrough.

“I realized everyone’s going to want to be able to see every aspect of a photo or video without having to move the camera or record every possible position,” he said.

From that small, yet life-altering moment until now, Ramsay and Bubl have been drawing up product designs, testing the crowdfunding method, and working diligently to create the ultimate footage capturing device.

For those in the sports industry, Bublcam offers athletes, coaches, and fans access to viewpoints and angles that have been all but left in the dark until now. After showing off the product to athletes, Ramsay found that they were impressed how they could now visually examine their posture from every perspective or study how they were moving and interacting with different people around them, specifically in a team based setting. For broadcasters too, Ramsay noted that Bublcam allows every angle to be captured, enhancing the fan experience for all.

Even the average Joe has the ability to tap into this latest innovation.

“Say you are a fitness trainer and you want to present a video where someone else feels they are part of that particular video,” said Ramsay. “They want to be able to follow not just the instructor but the people around them so they can understand exactly how to perform, how to recreate movements, or how to train better.”

From here on out, Ramsay and his squad are committed to improving the Bublcam and the experience it provides. Such improvements include installing higher resolution lenses, fixing the camera with higher frame rates, adding software enhancements for editing and sharing processes, and driving down the overall price of the product.

“If someone wants to know what Bublcam is truly good for, it’s to see the world from every angle, to actually feel like you’re their inside of a moment that was captured on a phone or a video like you’re actually sitting there and doing things in a way that’s never been done before,” said Ramsay.
