Bundesliga to Work With Genius Sports to Ensure Integrity, FanDuel expands into Pennsylvania

  • The German Football Association plans to work with Genius Sports to prevent match fixing and betting-related corruption. Starting with the 2019-20 season, Genius Sports will analyze global odds movements and will automatically flag potentially suspicious betting activity. The partnership covers German international matches, the Bundesliga and its second division (the 2. Bundesliga), and spans men’s, women’s, and youth soccer. Genius Sports most recently established a similar integrity program with the LPGA Tour.
  • FanDuel has expanded its online and mobile sportsbook into Pennsylvania through a partnership with Boyd Gaming and Valley Forge Casino Resort. FanDuel has already emerged as the leading mobile sports betting operator in New Jersey. Pennsylvania is now the second state where the company’s online betting product will be available. Online sports betting is now predominantly done via mobile apps. The challenge for sportsbooks is ensuring those apps are user-friendly, fast, and legally compliant.   • Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment leads new investment into StreamMetrics, a startup focused on measuring esports viewership. HBSE’s portfolio includes the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Devils, and esports organization Dignitas. StreamMetrics is able to measure a range of information about viewers, from age, gender and ethnicity to brand attitudes and in-game spending habits. “StreamMetrics makes it possible for traditional stick-and-ball sport advertisers, brands, and media agencies to more effectively evaluate and enter the gaming space with confidence,” said Dan Nemo, Co-Founder & COO of StreamMetrics.
  • Four-time NBA champion John Salley has been appointed EVP of marketing for Leading Edge Pharms, a biotechnology company developing cannabinoid therapy products. Salley will help Leading Edge Pharms promote its lineup of CBD-based topical pain and inflammation relief solutions. He previously launched his own cannabis brand Deuces22. “I tried Leading Edge’s topical oil for a chronic back pain issue that was keeping me awake at night,” Salley said in a press release. “The bottom line is the product works. The oil eased my discomfort, allowing me to sleep through the night for the first time in years.”
  • AccuTennis has partnered with the Women’s Tennis Coaching Association to help launch its system. AccuTennis automates the scoring and line calls of a tennis match through computer vision. Its on-court camera system can also provide real-time visual and audio coaching feedback and drills for players. AccuTennis will begin taking pre-orders for its product at the WTCA’s annual conference at the Marriott Laguardia Hotel in New York from Aug. 23 to Aug. 25.
