With 8 drivers remaining in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, we took a dive into MVPindex to see how NASCAR drivers are using social media, who the top drivers and teams are, and what the top posts were for the past month on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Dale Earnhardt, Jr. may have been knocked out of contention for the Sprint Cup in the round of 12, but he’s number one among NASCAR drivers on social media. Earnhardt doesn’t just earn engagement from fans with great posts, but he constantly engages with his fans through late night Twitter chats. This is a driver dedicated to his craft on social media, and showing his fans that he appreciates their support.
The second ranked driver on social media is Jeff Gordon. Along with still being in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, Gordon is the author of the most popular post among NASCAR drivers in the last month. Gordon has a chance to retire at the top of the NASCAR world if he can win the Sprint Cup, and become the number one retired driver on Social Media.
Jimmy Johnson was eliminated after the first round of the Chase, but he’s currently third among NASCAR drivers on social media. Johnson’s third place ranking on social media also rounds out a 1-2-3 finish for Hendrick Motorsports.
The fourth ranked driver, Kevin Harvick, logged the most popular post to social media featuring #TheChase sinceSeptember 1. Harvick is also the last remaining driver on our list to still be alive in his quest for the Sprint Cup.
Danica Patrick may not have been in contention for the Cup this year, but she is a force to be reckoned with on social media. Among NASCAR drivers, Patrick boasts the most Twitter followers, second most Facebook page likes, and third most followers on Instagram.
