Chicago Startup Launches New Heated Massage Foam Roller On Kickstarter

Lake Zurich, Illinois-based Moji just launched a Kickstarter campaign for a new heated massage foam roller.

The brand new MojiHeat combines the benefits of a regular foam roller with the positive effects of heat therapy. The dual therapy roller features patent pending technology. MojiHeat is an average size roller, but it detaches into two parts in order to be heated in almost any microwave.

The countless amount of foam roller brands currently on the market claim to help athletes of all levels warm up and recover. Foam rollers are used for body maintenance and post workout recovery, or even as the workout.

Moji claims that their new heated foam roller will reduce muscle stiffness, increase blood circulation and raise tissue temperature even more than an average roller. The roller’s texturized surface also helps improve muscle recovery and relaxation.

The Chicago area company behind the new heated roller was founded in 2007, with the “goal of keeping people active and pain-free.” Over the last nine years the company has sold 10 different products that help relieve pain and improve recovery.

Moji currently sells five products, and three of the models allow users to freeze the products for an ice-based massage. All of these products allow users to dig deep into muscle and tissue in order to help break up scar tissue and relieve pain.

Moji partnered with the design and engineering firm Product Development Technologies to develop MojiHeat. PDT has worked with companies such as Motorola, Dell and Texas Instruments. After a year and a dozen prototypes, the microwavable foam roller is ready to make its debut.

The Kickstarter campaign’s $15,000 one-month goal is already more than halfway funded after only a few days. Despite the fact that there are a ton of different foam rollers on the market, it seems Moji might have this hybrid heated foam roller market corned for now, although there are currently a few direct competitors.
